Where Curiosity Meets the Cosmos
The UCR Astronomy Club is a student-led community dedicated to exploring the universe through observation, learning, and shared discovery.
Our Mission
We exist to make astronomy accessible, engaging, and inspiring for students and the broader Riverside community.
Whether you’re pursuing a degree in astrophysics or simply fascinated by the night sky, our goal is to create an environment where curiosity is encouraged and exploration is shared.
What We Do
We bring astronomy to life through hands-on experiences, events, and community engagement:
-
Telescope Nights
Weekly stargazing sessions at the UCR Bell Tower, open to all students.
-
General Meetings
Discussions on astronomy topics, current discoveries, and upcoming activities.
-
Joshua Tree Trips
Quarterly excursions to observe deep-sky objects under some of California’s darkest skies.
-
Outreach
Partnerships with local schools, libraries, and community centers to share astronomy with the Riverside community.
Why It Matters
Astronomy changes the way we see the world — and our place in it.
Through shared observation and discovery, we aim to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the universe that surrounds us.
